Finding something that you’re truly passionate about usually doesn’t happen overnight. Throughout my life, I had always been told that I possess artistic abilities. I never thought of it to be true until I took my first art class. From then on, I found enjoyment and relaxation in art. My dreams of becoming a graphic designer emerged when I was in middle school. Around this time, Myspace was a huge social media platform and I remember designing my own page layout or editing one that I found. I find comfort in designing and it has become my safe place. It has helped me learn how to focus and pay attention to details. Graphic design, for me, is the gateway to tapping into your creativity. There’s always more to learn with graphic design because its evolution is never-ending. Being accepted into the program at University of South Alabama will allow me to soak in more knowledge than I already contain. I believe it will challenge me to get out of my comfort zone and break boundaries. What I appreciate most about graphic design is that you’re not confined to just one thing and you can use your skills in more than one area of practice. You’re allowed to use multiple forms of art and incorporate them altogether to create something beautiful. My love for design has grown tremendously since attending the University of South Alabama. It has been refreshing to see so many different variations of work from students because it helps generate ideas. With this degree, I plan to accomplish my goal of becoming a successful designer. I feel I would not be able to do so without this program because the constructive criticism that I receive from the professors and students pushes me to improve. I want to become the best at what I do. If not the best, one of the best. I have high expectations for myself and I hope others see my potential just as much as I do.
